Thrift Shopping behind Rue de Rivioli

There is a very popular flea market clothing shop in Paris behind Rue de Rivioli.
 There was a line out the door to even entered and once you did, it was a swarm of super aggresive hipsters digging through piles of vintage (lots of 80s, unfortunately).

Now You See It...

Now you don't!
((Obsessed with my grey slit maxi from Zara, surely now one of my favorite pieces.))
With the French flag waving. In front of the Tower of San Jaques - a tower once so tall that during the middle ages it would guide the travelers on their religious pilgrimages to the next destination.

Café Boheme

Fact: Chloe and I are living in Paris and we are both quite broke. We cook (very delicious things) everyday except Saturdays. Saturdays we get to give ourselves a break and eat out somewhere worth it since we are, afterall, here.
((how do we manage?)) --->

Les Pietons Tapas Bar

To be very clear about something - walking around Paris is tiring.
Navigating a sea of people, in the heels that you were naturally too stubborn not to wear for several hours can be very exhausting. As the effort put forth to accomplish this very directly affects Chloe and I's blood sugar, we often find ourselves feeling very starved and desperate for a bite to eat. While I have taken to packing madelines and other snacks, sometimes it is just not enough. Enter Les Pietons Tapas's bar, a perfect stop near Rue Rivioli for a small bite..

And a 2euro glass of sangria!
Patas Bravas, however, sadly, the paled in comparison to the real thing.

Changing Seasons

It is a beautiful autumn day in this beautiful city I live in and I am, unsurprisingly, feeling dreamy and romantic and happy to be alive.
The sun bursting down on me through the statuesque old trees and building on my walk to Jussieu.

Fat Cat, Our Courtyard and Honey Toasts

It was a lazy, rainy Sunday yesterday. Our friend who lives in the courtyard, Fat Cat, was in agreement. He is extraordinarily fat and loves his full figure, he is always basking with his corpulent stomach on display for rubs.
This is our lovely courtyard...

Candelaria

Candelaria!
Tacos! Tostadas!
((These pollo tostadas with black beans, creme fraiche, queso fresco and lots of fresh cilantro were my favorite.))
Mexican in Paris, what?? --->

Americans in France

As a foreigner, an American, living in France, I am always wanting to blend in with the Parisians. I get so excited when people ask me for directions (they think I'm a local!) and are so surprised and probably dismayed when they find I am not only not from Paris but cannot speak a word of French. In general, I have been exceedingly pleased with how well I have been deceiving everyone that I am indeed French (as long as I do not open my mouth to butcher their language)- because it  for some reason seems like the ultimate compliment. However, after walking around all morning and doing a bit of necessary shopping for our apartment, it was dinnertime and Chloe and I found ourselves starving on Saint Michael. We did not want to spend a lot of money or time, so to quell our rumbling stomachs and plummeting blood sugar...
 We went to McDonalds.
And were happy about it.
America!

Montmartre and Nuit Blanche

After walking around the Jardin des Tuileries, Chloe and I hopped on the metro and headed up to Montmarte, a famous part of Paris up on the hill full of tourist attractions like Moulin Rouge...

Jardin Des Tuileries

Chloe and I are officially living for a weekends.

Wine and Tapas on the Terrace

Being such a lady.
This weekend was again most successful!
More detailed posts will follow but here is a shot Chloe took testing settings on her camera when we were on the roof top terrace of our friends Fred and Mark, an absolutely lovely afternoon.
