Diptyque in La Gallerie Layfette

The infamously amazing diptyque parfumeur on display under the dome of [the insanely huge department store], Gallerie Layfette.

ROBBINS/EK - Dances at a Gathering/Appartement

Birthday present from best friend:
Tickets to the ballet at the Opera National de Paris Palais Garnier.
\\Priceless.
ROBBINS/EK
Dances at a Gathering/ Appartement
Two choreographers with radically different styles and artistic journeys offer their piercing visions of human relationships. Haunted by Chopin, Jerome Robbins brings together five pairs of dancers to the rhythm of waltzes and mazurkas. Accompanied by the group Fleshquartet, Mats Ek devises eleven sequences like so many chronicles of everyday life.
Dances at a Gathering was a mesmerizingly beautiful story of five couples. I was completely swept away by the music and the movement, I could have watched it for hours. I thought much of how spectacular  it must have been to see such a performance in earlier centuries, before modern entertainment.
[Admire something purely beautiful]

Fabric and Mercerie Shopping in Paris

Shops in Paris are organized in a very interesting way.
For each particular type of business, instead of being dispersed evenly throughout the city, they clumped together into quarters - the Artist's Quarter full with all the art galleries is located in 7th arrondissement, the fine china shops are in 9th arrondissement, etc.
On a mission for Fete in France the other day, I discovered the fabric stores.

Neon Indian - Polish Girl

In the mood for the electronic sounds of Neon Indian
Festivals on the mind!

Would you please tell me..

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don’t much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn’t matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"--so long as I get SOMEWHERE," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you’re sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."
Paris is a long walk, but where to walk to next?

If you ought to like to see more beautiful blossoms ---->

Courtyard Blossoms

You would think I have some sort of threshold for the excitement I get out of spring blossoms.
But actually - it is pretty limitless.!
Outside my window in the courtyard.

This I Know

//There is a longing inside me big as the ocean, bout to wash me over clean, I see it in my dreams and I know that its coming, but when, oh when, oh when//

La Vie du Jardin des Tuileries

Magically warm weather in an already innately magical Parisian springtime makes people, inhabitants and tourists alike, come to the gardens to enjoy the weather. Along the Seine, connecting the Louvre to Concorde - the start of the Champs Elysee, the Tuileries is the perfect spot to relax and revel in la via Parisienne.
At is beginning, the Arc de Carrousel.

20 Somethings

I think about things a lot. Dwell about time, ask lots of questions.
(((i'm staring at the asphalt wondering, what's buried underneath where i am...)))
Sophie and I were eating cake in the sun on Cardinal Lemoine, talking about how instinctive it is to be looking for something to grab us, to take us in. The always on-point Thought Catalog had a great and thought-provoking(imagine!) article on just that the other day.
Being in your twenties is all about discovering which things hurt you and what makes you feel good.
This is what your twenties are for — to feel and see as much as you can, to take advantage of not being tied down to anything and anyone and to go balls to the wall with everything that you do. You’re a raw nerve.
Anything is possible. People are ready for you.
Make a mark. Make a stain. Make something.

Sugar Plum Cake Shop

I love pastries.
I love pain au chocolate, croissants, beignets, apple tart, almond tart - all of those marvelous, buttery, flaky and delicate desserts you can find in patissiries. .
But I am American and I also love moist cakes, sugary buttercreams, chewy cookies and fudgy brownies. I crave them in fact. I have accomplished a few recipes - pumpkin cake on Thansgiving, traditional chocolate on Valentines... yet am baking in a quasi toaster oven in our matchbox kitchen, so decadent layer cakes are out of question.

Industrious

Spring is the time of plans and projects ― Leo TolstoyAnna Karenina
Beautiful whites on the corner of Cardinal Lemoine and Rue Monge
I am feeling that a lot truth very strongly right now! I want to cook ambitious meals, make beautiful little things, sew something, make a hardboard, plant a garden, read a million books, explore new areas - everything. I crave being literally productive. Plus, I am very stimulated in this incredible city. Yet, I'm incapable of starting everything it is inspiring me to do - I don't have the means here! It is something I am really excited about upon my return to the states.!

Musee d'Orsay on a Sunday

I can't describe to you how happy it makes me to be able to casually (and for free!) visit the Musee d'Orsay on a Sunday.

Maximilien Luce - La Seine a Herblay
I am always so enamored with impressionism and post-impressionism. And just how much of these movements that I love so much were born in the city where I live. The neo-impressionism really drew me in today. The technique of using small separated dots of color, this decomposition, enabled the artists to make colors vibrate, by juxtaposing complementary shades and to modulate colors to achieve a particular luminosity.
