A Glimpse at the Vatican Museum

Blown away by my trip to Roma this weekend.
The history, the culture, the architecture, the people, the food!
((Much more to come))

A Few Shots from Around Toulouse

At the Capitole de Toulouse (where Chloe's parents got married!)
More Toulous after the jump!

A Saturday Stroll

Since the Musee de Vin is located in the 16th, it was a easy walk to the Eiffel Tower and sometimes it is so nice not to have to enter the metro.
Recognize the bridge from Inception?

Wine at Musee du Vin

Did I mention that with the 10euro admission, you get a free glass of wine at the end!
 Cheers to that!

Musee du Vin

The Musee du Vin, the Wine Museum, is a nice little treat. Located in the 16th arrondissement, it is a small cave of everything wine related.
One of the most interesting things at the museum - a beautiful and incredible well-preserved cup from the 4th century. The 4th century!

Panic Room

"Panic Room, the newish nightlife haven in the bar-packed 11th Arrondissement, hawks a “chic and trash” theme to ensure dopey contentment—and boy does it work."
Chloe, Alyssa and I met Rachel and her friends out in the 11th at Panic Room this last weekend. It is a very cool and popular bar, like the description says, it is that mix of chic and trash that young people in Paris have a particular penchant for and do so well. Plus while the upstairs is a bar, the downstairs is a DJ-ed dance party. I recommend!

Jardin des Plantes Deux

It was a beautiful day on Saturday! I revel in my free time so much on the weekends, I cannot stop explaining how happy I am to be free from work (Bougival). Chloe and I began the day with a nice jog through the beautiful and proximate Jardin des Plants in the morning..
((I love seeing colorful blooms in January, so different - acclimated to the frozen and dead tundra of Minnesota!))

Karaoke at La Noche

The other night we went out with Christina's friends from the agency to a bar, a karaoke bar - La Noche.

Tulips

It feels like a little peak of spring!!

Les Oiseaux

Stumbling upon the wonderful little shop Les Oiseaux was part of a most delightful Saturday. Located in the 11th arrondissment near the Canals, it had an amazing selection of bohemian accessories and delicate jewelry created by the owners themselves - Alexandra Francios and Karen Monny.

Sophie!!

Another great thing about Saturday, maybe the best, is that I got to see Sophie!! I miss her so much everyday at Bougival and on the train, we had so much to catch up on, I could barely eat my salmon tartare (new food obsession - its all I want to eat, ever)

From the Courtyard

Our window still looks quite festive, I just don't want to take the snowflakes down yet! It is so strange having a winter without any snow!

Sunday Brunch

//Happy to be having a relaxed Sunday//
I made a nice brunch for Chloe and Alyssa, I love our little apartment!

Out of the Dungeons

Emerging out the metro at Jussieu always make me happy...

M is for Metro

By Poissonnerie on the Pink Line - on the way to Christina's new apartment!

L is for Lion

I planned for January to be themed Animals, Adjectives and Action Verbs. It has been the most fun so far. Here is a fierce little lion (and one of my favorites) named Anouk in the example animal mask I made.

Salmon Tartare

I have a new food obsession and it is salmon tartare
It is all I want to eat.
This was the dish that started it all. Chloe's grandpa Padu and Anne-Marie took us out to a nice lunch in the center of Toulous after we flew in. With a bright citrus and coriander sauce, so delicious!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Well a very little plane. Paris to Toulous for the weekend.
PS - EVERYONE EVERYONE EVERYONE! - When you have to go to either the CDG Airport or Orly Airport in Paris, definitely use the RoissyBus or OrlyBus. Trying to get to either on the RER-B is very time consuming, stressful and very uncomfortable. Taking a taxi is completely unreasonably expensive - minimum 50euro. But a either of those buses go from a major hub in the center of Paris directly to either airport. It is about 7euro for a ticket, clean and not crowded. Surely the best option I have discovered!

Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a cute, friendly area at the end of the RER-A, where I went to try to get my carte de sejour...

Intouchables

I have mixed feelings about being back in Paris. It feels like an enormous adjustment to go home for two lovely weeks and be with all my loved ones and then come back here and get into the French mindset. And back to work! Two different worlds. Today, both Chloe and I had the day off. We were contemplating our options for the day - museum? park? - but most of the options we had done already, so we decided to go to the movies. Since everyone is talking about what a wonderful film it is, we decided to see Intouchables - "A true story of two men who should never have met - a quadriplegic aristocrat who was injured in a paragliding accident and a young man from the projects.". My first French movie I've watched since I moved! We walked down Saint Germain to the MK2 Theater (which was nice! red velvet cushy seats!) by Odeon, and Paris just seemed so beautiful.
Excited to be at the movies.
The movie was really good, I was surprised at how much I could follow! It was one of those movies like the Kings Speech that made you want to laugh and cry. Now back to work tomorrow, agh!

The Pantheon at Night

Passed by the Pantheon last night walking home on Rue Saint Jacques. It's origin stems from when King Louis XV was ill and vowed that if he recovered, he would replace the ruins of the Sainte-Genevieve church with a edifice worthy of the patron saint of Paris, thus he ordered the construction of the new neoclassical Eglise Sainte-Genevieve, today the Pantheon.

A Packer Bar. In Paris

I should not like the Packers. I am from Minnesota, home of the Vikings.
