Yum, is it really October?
The Jussieu metro stop a couple blocks from our apartment where I run to get the metro everyday.
It feels like eternal summer here in Paris. Sunday morning woke up with warm sun streaming in through our windows to begin another beautiful, hot day in Paris. Instead of mustering up the energy to check more tourist locations off our list, we decided to accept the invitation of Mark and Fred, via Sasha and Eddy to have tapas on their rooftop terrace. Sasha and Eddy had told us how wonderful it was but descriptions really couldn't do it justice... On the top floor of their (awesome) apartment building, it overlooks the city with this as one of the views.
The terrace had several little areas, all very zen with many plants, candles, a pond with koi fish...
And refreshing, summer beverages..
Happy about the whole enviroment
Looking all kewl and awkward as Chloe snapped this photo - only because everyone began to comment on my cat-eye sunglasses and being an American girl in a sundress as it was being taken. But look at how lovely their terrace is!
Then on to the food, delicious. That octopus salad was amazing (tentacles and all!), there was an excellent artichoke salad, fennel, salmon, white fish, sweet potato... oh and the saffron salt in the little dish below was lovely.
Of course, we had a variety (my favorite kind) of little treats and pastries for dessert.
And since all proper meals are follow with cafe, I stayed true to my caffeine-sensitive-tendencies and had some green tea with some truly delicious honey that is actually made in Paris.
The whole afternoon was the perfect dose of hospitality to relax us for our week. Mark and Fred are so kind and fun, the food was great, the terrace was beautiful It was just so nice to not have to cook our own food or have to buy it for once!
Then, since we were in the area, we went down to stroll along the canal. So many people were out on leisurely walks enjoying the weather and this city...
Walking by all the shops, we had to look inside just a bit (little side note, I have still only bought ONE item of clothing while living in PARIS and it was quite inexpensive at that - who am I?). I like the little bowtie on the thick cable knit, a little Annie Hall but cuter.
All over the city there are huge and interesting walls of graffiti. A couple of young people had just finished this one and were standing back and admiring their work. I decided to be super kewl and admire it as well.
Peace.
